Michigan Birds
Data Visualization
This piece is an homage to my home state of Michigan and my love for birdwatching. I wanted a friendly, bright, and informative poster that would help people know when to expect certain birds, their relative population, and what to feed them.
-
Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and RAWGraphs
-
The purpose of this project was to create a poster utilizing several different sources of data to learn how to handle large data sets

Process
Compiling the data was the most critical aspect of this poster. I used data from Project FeederWatch, Partners in Flight Database, eBird, and the American Bird Conservancy.

I acquired population data from bird species in Michigan and filtered it to the top ten in Excel. I then used RAWGraphs to plot the frequency data of summer visiting birds. The graph was brought into Illustrator and altered, and then the other assets were also made in Illustrator.
